Anders Wivel

Anders Wivel

Professor

Anders Wivel is Professor of International Relations and Head of PhD Programme. His most fundamental research interest is how small states overcome power asymmetry and vulnerability in international relations.

More generally, he focuses on foreign policy, small states in international relations, peaceful change, and power politics and IR realism. He seeks to advance our understanding of how power politics is being transformed in the Euro-Atlantic area and how this transformation affects both the challenges and opportunities of small states.

Theoretically, Anders Wivel’s work engages strongly with the realist perspective on international relations. His research publications include purely theoretical work as well as in-depth theoretically informed empirical analyses based on a variety of written sources and interviews.

Anders Wivel enjoys teaching. He welcomes inquiries on supervision. You are most welcome to drop by in his office hour or send him and e-mail to schedule an appointment.

You can learn more about Anders Wivel’s research on small state foreign policy, neoclassical realism, international order and peaceful change and his teaching and supervision at his personal website.

Anders Wivel is a member of the Department of Political Science research group on International Relations. He cooperates on a regular basis with the Centre for Military Studies (CMS).
