Darfur in the western part of Sudan
University of Zalingei, cooperating partner during study in Central Darfur State. The University was temporarily closed due to student demonstrations against the military’s influence. Cooperated with the Department for Peace and Development.

Goldmine in Karita, Karamoja in the most North-Eastern Uganda close to the Kenyan border. Local authorities tell how the gold is smuggled out – they cannot control it. It is a border town and as such their earnings come from cattle-trade and not gold.
