Research
Jakob Dreyer researches international relations with a focus on the relationship between security politics and climate change. Theoretically, Jakob´s thesis studies distant, slow and indirect forms of harm and violence across policy areas from human-induced climate change to remote warfare. He studies such phenomena from the perspective of political sociology combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Empirically Jakob works on the external dimensions of European security and climate policy with a special interest in the EUs climate policy, the Green Deal.

Jakob has a background as a linguist officer in Arabic and was deployed to Operation Inheren Resolve in 2016 and 2017. He has previously worked at the Danish Institute for International Studies. 

 

Teaching and dissemination
Jakob has developed the course: Climate Diplomacy: Dilemmas between security, trade and development with Simon Wandel-Petersen and Klara Christensen (https://kurser.ku.dk/course/astk18370u/2021-2022). Previously Jakob has taught the Masters´Degree specialization in International Relation, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution, and has also taught the International Relations core course on several occasions.

Jakob has a broad experience disseminating on research related topics to Danish and international media. Among other media he has written and presented at the European Council on Foreign Relations, DR, TV2, Weekendavisen, Politiken, Altinget, Kristeligt Dagblad and Ræson
