Postdoc

Felix Mallin joined the Department of Political Science at KU in April 2021. Prior to that, he was a Max-Weber-NUS Postdoctoral Fellow at the National University of Singapore.

His current research focuses on the political economy and political geography of the global oceans, with a particular regional interest in the Pacific ocean and South East Asia. More specifically, he has studied issues concerning ocean grabbing, the blue economy, large marine protected areas (LMPAs), and deep-sea mining (DSM). At KU, Felix coordinates the Copenhagen Ocean Hub, a cross-faculty strategic initiative to promote ocean-related scholarship in and beyond the university.

Felix holds a joint-PhD in Geography from King's College London and National University of Singapore (2019), an MA in Geopolitics, Territory and Security from King's College London (2012), and BSc in Geography from Bonn University (2010). He has advised several Pacific island governments on critical issues around climate politics, resource sovereignty and biodiversity conservation.
