Non-Pedigreed Political Theory
Political Theory seminar: Michael Saward (University of Warwick, UK), “Non-Pedigreed Political Theory”.
Non-pedigreed political theory (NPPT) is political theory produced by people who are not professional political theorists. Pedigreed political theory is political theory produced by professional political theorists. The presentation will characterise and provide examples of NPPT and explore the effects of drawing specific boundaries between the two forms of political theory. It will explore the idea that non-pedigreed political theory ought to be recognised as an integral part of the political theory enterprise – a move which would betoken a significant shift in how the enterprise of political theory is to be understood.
