The British Exit from the European Union
Activity: Talk or presentation types › Lecture and oral contribution
Ian James Manners - Lecturer
- Department of Political Science
- Centre for European Politics
The lecture explains (1) how the British exit from the European Union cannot be understood without setting the 'Brexit' debate within its historical context. (2) How the granting of 'Special Status' to the UK creates problems for all. (3) How the 'deaferendum' undermines democracy. (4) Why the British exit will create a 'Little England'. (5) How a post-Brexit UK will move forwards to the past. The lecture sets out why the British exit is best characterised as an 'Anglo-(N)exit'.
