Brexit: A Panel Discussion

Activity: Talk or presentation typesLecture and oral contribution

One cannot escape the fact that the European Union is facing one of the greatest events and challenges in its modern history. Of some, called the biggest challenge the EU has ever faced. No one can escape Britain's possible withdrawal from the EU, no one can have escaped Brexit. Since the referendum on June 23, 2016, negotiations and intensive debates have been mutually superseded, agreements have been postponed and it appears that the date of actual withdrawal has been moved forward. All with an underlying uncertainty about how the future relationship between the UK and the EU will look and what the consequences of a brexit will be.

Brexit has definitely not escaped or left any of us in the UPF unmoved. In view of this, we in UPF organize a panel discussion with the aim of highlighting different perspectives and aspects on the outcome of Brexit.

The panel consists of:
* Jörgen Hettne - Associate professor at the institution of Business Law in Lund, Director of the Centre for European Studies (CFE) at Lund University
* Ylva Nilsson - Journalist, previous Brussels correspondent at Dagens Industri and SVD
* Ian Manners - University of Copenhagen
* Agnès Courades Allebeck - Director at the Swedish National Board of Trade, Head of the Department of Internal Market
