Kristian Søby Kristensen
Head of centre, senior researcher
Primary fields of research
I conduct research on security and strategy. What is security – and for whom, where and how? In concrete terms that means a focus on NATO as well as Danish and Western strategy and security policy.
The organization of Western security policy in transnational or multilateral frameworks as for instance NATO has long been a consistent ordering principle. This order is currently fundamentally challenged by changing conceptual and spatial meanings of security and strategy. Consequently I currently investigate how the Western security community is challenged by new ideas about changes in war, security and the global balance of power.
From that follows my primary research areas:
- NATO and the transatlantic relationship
- Danish and Western defense and security policy
- War, strategy and globalization
- Arctic security policy
I supervise, teach and conduct public lectures within the same areas
