Security, Risk and War

At the Department of Political Science, Copenhagen University we have a distinct profile in research relating to security, risk and war. We emphasize a broader concept of security, where a number of different research centers and groups focus on security and conflict which means that we can combine different kinds of knowledge and disciplines into a more pluralistic research environment. We examine how and why states fight wars and how perceptions, discourses and images play a role in securitizing certain issues. We also study how these threats translate into corporate action. The Department has been at the center of the international debate on security and security theory for the last several decades, which makes it an ideal place for researchers and students to meet and discuss to get new perspectives on security issues.
