When Professor MSO Lars Tønder took over as head of studies on 1 February, he also became the new deputy head of department for education.

“I have high expectations that Lars, both due to his professional profile and experience as well as his background as staff representative, will contribute to maintaining the high quality of our study programs. At the same time, Lars can ensure renewal and robustness as we face the department's future challenges,” says Head of Department Nina Græger.

She mentions regionalization and the faculty's financial cut downs as examples of future challenges.

New constellation in place

At the Department of Political Science, there is now a new constellation with a division of study management and management of study boards. This means that Lars Tønder will work closely with the study board's front person, Associate Professor Karina Kosiara Pedersen.

"I look forward to working with both of them. Let me also take this opportunity to send a big thank you to the current head of studies and deputy head of department for education, Anders Berg-Sørensen, for the fine work he has done in the field of education over six years,” emphasizes Nina Græger.

Major challenges need to be tackled

The newly appointed Head of Studies is looking forward to getting started with the many assignments.

"We must continue to strengthen and expand our bachelor's and master's programs so that our students are best equipped to tackle the many challenges that our society faces," points out Lars Tønder and mentions sustainability and the green agenda that he himself is very preoccupied with.

“We must also make sure to mitigate the worst consequences of the financial savings we face. It will all definitely be very exciting, and I look forward to contributing as well as possible.”
